Mark 4:21- 34(HG2)

Vs. 21-25 PURPOSE: That the message be made known.
Vs. 22 - was Jesus saying this in connection to people not understanding the parable? It is hidden SO THAT it can come to life.
So what was the secret? Who was the secret?
Jesus - He was not the carrier of the message but IS the message.

Even in this parable, the disciples try to understand it, but only because they take time and ask questions about it do they get clarity on it. It is meant to come to light, but we need to do our part also. We need the desire and discipline to study. We need to apply ourselves

Vs. 26-29 POWER: The growing seed.
This is also part of the mystery/ secret. The man doesn't know how it happens.
Do we try to control the Word?
What IS the kingdom of God? There is an inherent power in the kingdom of God.
Kingdom: Rule, Reign & Realm
Who belongs in the kingdom of God? Could it be that we may not even know who all are part of this kingdom?
Do we limit God's kingdom? His rule is far greater than that of the church. The church is not equal to the kingdom of God.

The Kingdom of God is still a mystery. We know the values, we know the Ruler, we know there is power in the kingdom... etc. But it still is a mystery. We can't put God in a box. Its not my job to convert - only the Holy Spirit can do that. God may work in ways we may not expect - we don't know how.

Vs. 30-34 POTENTIAL
In this parable, we see the potential that is present in the Kingdom of God. Even the birds, as they nest in the tree, are being influenced by the tree - they get shelter from the tree. We should influence people - we don't know our potential through God.
BUT - our focus should be on intimacy with God. Jesus' focus was His Father - He did as His Father told Him to do. In the same way, we need to listen to God's voice, allow the power and the potential of the kingdom to work through us. We shouldn't limit the kingdom of God - we can't put God in a box.
